Hon. (Barr.) Fatai Adeniyi Adesina on Tuesday declared intention to once again re-contest for the Oyo State House of Assembly to represent the people of Ibadan South East Constituency 1.

Honourable Adesina, while declaring his intention said: “My decision to contest for the position is based on Experience and competence.

“Having been in the saddle for four years, (2015 – 2019), I can conclude that we touched life across the constituency 1, as our projects distributed across the Constituency 1 speaks for us today.

“Returning to the house as a second timer will obviously put us in a good stand to become a principal officer or what we refer to as functionaries in the House of Assembly. One can easily become a principal staff and influence projects into his constituency.”

It would be recalled that Hon. Adesina was the Chairman, House Committee on Youth and Sports in the 8th Assembly and also served as a member of various committees.

Despite belonging to the opposition party and automatically being a member of the minority party in the 8th Assembly, Hon. Adesina make his marks in the state legislative arm of government.

As a lawmaker, he was never found wanting in his duties of lawmaking business as a trained and practising lawyer, oversight functions and representation of his constituency.

It took the wise intervention of Hon. Adesina to prevent the State 8th Assembly from going back to the old story of violence, physical attacks and destruction of property when the House was to elect a new Speaker following the death of the then Speaker, Right Honourable Michael Adeyemo.

Hon. Adesina called for indoor plenary to avoid washing the dirty linen of the hallowed chamber in the full glare of the general public as the state was still morning the passage of the Speaker. The indoor plenary culminated into secret ballots which produced the new Speaker, Right Honourable Olagunju Ojo without any violence despite the fact that some people already prepared for a showdown and complete breakdown of law and order. They were disappointed by the sagacious move of Honorable Adesina.

The statement that ‘one good turn deserves another’ really comes to play on Tuesday, given the testimony of party loyalists and massive turn out of supporters at the event which kick-started Hon. Adesina wider consultation to actualise his ambition.

“I stand by my commitment and pledges at the declaration today.
I want to sincerely appreciate all the leaders, party members and well wishers. The journey is on and we will continue to reach out to leaders, party executives, political appointees, stakeholders, religious bodies, aspirants and youths in the constituency.

“The business of law making is a serious one and it is a job meant for serious minded personality. I will not let you down. Please count on my Experience and Competence.” The banker-turned-lawyer politician said.
