A coalition of groups under the aegis of Coalition of Support Groups for Senator Dr. Abdul ‘Aziz Abubakar Yari (CoSGSAAY) has called on former Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Abdul Azeez Abubakar Yari to join the race for the 10th Senate Presidency.

The National Coordinator of the Groups, Omogbolahan Babawale who stated this during a press conference in Abuja, described Senator Yari as the best man for the job.
Babawale expressed the groups’ confidence in the former Governor of Zamfara, stressing that they we believed he would be a perfect partner-in-progress to the Tinubu-led administration.
The groups pointed out that as the race for the 10th Assembly begins, Yari has been identified as one man with the requisite wherewithal to bring harmonious relationship between the Executive and the Legislative Arms of Government, stressing that no other man but the Senator-elect from the West Senatorial District of the North Western State of Zamfara, is the most qualified.
They also posited that the region with highest percentage contribution to the political victory ofTinubu/Shettima should have the slot of the Senate President, adding that the position of Senate President should not be by emotions or sentiments as only Senator Yari is deserving of the seat of the 10th Senate.
The press statement of the conference reads:
“A critical time requires critical thinking by critical thinkers to provide measurable solutions to the challenges of time. Nigeria is no doubt going through some critical challenges which make her vulnerable in many ways.
“These include, but not limited to, economic imbroglio, security kerfuffle, social imbalance as well as political furore tendentious towards ethnoreligious proclivities. These multi-faceted and hydra-headed quagmires require the leadership with the political will to change the narrative and navigate away, the country from her calamitous precipice. Hence, this press conference by the above-named Group.
“It is a known fact that the much-talked-about 2023 General Elections, the most fair and credible in recent years had come and gone and that a winner, as announced by the country’s electoral umpire had emerged as the validly elected 16th president of the most populous black nation in the world.
“Today, the former Lagos State governor and the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the president-elect. A man with track records of performance and a man cosmopolitan with political wizardry will be sworn in as the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come May 29, 2023.
“For us at the Coalition of Support Groups for Senator Dr. Abdul ‘Aziz Abubakar Yari (CoSGSAAY), we are of the opinion that the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has his job cut out for him already. The herculean job of navigating Nigeria through her murky waters of uncertainties and ambivalent catch-22s requires a leadership with the right partnership from the legislative arm that can help further consolidate the landmarks of the outgoing executives and support the #RenewedHope Action Plan of the Tinubu/Shettima presidency.
“In the race for the leadership of the 10th Senate therefore, our Group has identified one man with the requisite wherewithal sine qua non to a harmonious relationship between the Executive and the Legislative Arms of Government. That man is no other but the Senator-elect from the West Senatorial District of the North Western State of Zamfara, Senator Dr. Abdul ‘Aziz Abubakar Yari, the Shattima Mafara.
“Just as all of us here today at various times supported individually the then
aspirations of President Muhammadu Buhari twice in 2015 and 2019 and later to that of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in this 2023; we took time to examine, among the candidates who have shown interest in leading the 10th Senate, we took it therefore that the Party – All Progressive Congress(APC) should field the man who can best help drive the agenda of the incoming Tinubu/Shettima presidency and came to the conclusion that Senator Dr. Abdul ‘Aziz Abubakar Yari stood out tall and ticked all the parameters. He complements the President-elect in many aspects. That is why we birthed his (Senator Dr. Yari’s) ‘EPAL’ Vision.
“It is instructive however to state without equivocation that the Group – CoSGSAAY is not sponsored by the Senator-elect from the Zamfara West Senatorial District. The activities of the Group is solely financed by it under its Director-General. The ‘EPAL’ vision of Senator Dr. Abdul ‘Aziz Abubakar Yari (Shattima Mafara) is that which is built around Empathy, Patriotism, Altruism and Leadership. Our Group saw the verisimilitude of these traits as common between the Senator-elect as well as the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. As a man (Senator Dr. Yari) who is not an abecedarian in legislative rudiments having being a two-term legislator, a man with the executive leadership acumen having served as a two-term governor of Zamfara State and more profoundly a man who served as the Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and who displayed centripetal leadership that saw to the well being of the entire country and her citizenry; he deserves the seat more than anyone. It was under Senator Dr. Abdul ‘Aziz Abubakar Yari acting as the Chairman of NGF that Nigeria was declared polio-free by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
“That was a leadership with vision. Also under his ascendancy at the NGF, he used his personal closeness to President Muhammadu Buhari to secure the
release of Paris Club Loan refund to all States especially as bail out to states in dire straits years back. He is a man who believes in the unity and wellness of the country. Therefore, we believe he will be a perfect partner-in-progress to
the Tinubu administration.
“Let me conclude here by saying that politics is not served à la carte. It is a popular saying of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. And quite
congruously, if you must reap from politics, you must have contributed substantially to benefit therefrom. The last presidential election saw the North West give Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President-elect the highest votes – both in percentages and in numbers. Asiwaju got 30% of his total votes from the North West. And Zamfara State was one of the only two States Asiwaju won in the entire North West, the second being Jigawa. Senator Dr. Abdul ‘Aziz
Abubakar Yari did not give Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu the needed push, he played critical role and won his state for him even when Asiwaju lost many of his strongholds including his homestead – Lagos. For us, the region with highest
percentage contribution to the victory should have the slot of the Senate President. This should not be by emotions or sentiments. And indeed, only Senator Abdul ‘Aziz Abubakar Yari is deserving of the numero uno seat of the 10th Senate.
“Here is why we stand as a Group. This is what we believe is the right thing to do. We therefore call on Senator Dr. Abdul Azeez Abubakar Yari to throw himself into the race.”
