Rivers State Governor, Nyesome Wike on Tuesday said no APC member will pose any challenge to PDP during the forthcoming 2023 general election.

Wike, who stated this during a courtesy visit to his Oyo State counterpart, Seyi Makinde, said reading the mood of Nigerians indicates that they want a change, stressing that the APC has failed them.

“Same Nigerians have said APC has failed them… So they can’t pose any challenge to the PDP, and that’s why I’ve come here to rally round my brothers for all of us to work together to make sure that the party is united to produce somebody that Nigerians will accept and then make sure that we win the elections come 2023 because we can’t afford to disappoint Nigerians. You can see what’s happening in the country. What else can we say? You know that the country is almost on the brink of collapse.” Wike stated.

The Rivers State Governor however expressed his happiness that Nigerians have seen that the PDP is getting more united, stressing that the the party is ready to deliver the mantle of leadership come 2023.

When asked if the PDP party leaders are on the same page with the Southern governors in terms of advocacy for Southern Presidency in 2023, the governor said: “When you say party leaders, of course you should understand that when it come to the issue of presidency, we have divergent views, but at the end of the day PDP will sit down look at what the is the mood of Nigerians, what are Nigerians are talking about, how do we win this election? So it is not important to us.

Yes, as southerners, we have already canvassed that position but that does not mean that I would not also listen to our own brothers on the other hand, but at the end of the day we would take a decision that will move the party forward.”
