Nine outstanding students across secondary school in Ibarapaland won over N200,000 worth of scholarship and educational support, courtesy of Ibarapa club.
The nine winners out of 41 participants were the top three outstanding students from the three Ibarapa local government areas (Ibarapa East, Central and North).
The winners of this scholarship award, according to the President Ibarapa Club, Dr. Ajibolu Adeniran Oke, shall benefit from the club; payment of WAEC registration fees, compiled past questions in English and Mathematics, payment of school fee and PTA level for their final year class and other gift items for the school they represent.
Ajibolu said, “The annual scholarship, which we had its 4th edition this year, uses the modality of quota system. After conducting the exam, three winners emerged from each local government of Ibarapaland- Ibarapa North, Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa East, making total of nine(9) beneficiaries”.
“Ibarapa Club is a non-partisan socio-political group of individuals with like mind and what we do is to support and contribute to the development of our dear communities in Ibarapaland”.
“Scholarship is one of our developmental program, other projects include free surgery to good people of Ibarapaland, empowerment to the less privileged, widows and indigent youths”.
In his words, Dr. Gafar Amoo, the Vice President of the Club appreciated all the participating schools, their teachers and the students, noting that the event will boost value of education and hard work among students.
Lamenting the retrogression state of education in Ibarapa region, Amoo highlighted poverty, lack of career counselor and absence of enough qualified teachers among factors responsible for the sorry state.
“There is a need for equally distribution of gifted and brilliant students to all the schools from the Primary School Leaving Examination, because iron sharpens iron”.
“Authority concerned should take note, so that inclusive competition among students will be birthed. It will go along way to improve the performance of every schools in the external examination”.
“We are calling on more individuals of like minds to join the movement for the unity and development of Ibarapa community”, Amoo said.
In her own submission, Mrs. Razaq of Lanlate High School on behalf of the participating teachers thanked the organizers for their humanitarian spirit and charged the students to continue to put more effort in their studies.
